Do you tend to ramble one when you tell a story?

Have you ever listened to someone else tell a story and wonder when they will get to the point?

How you end your story is just as important as how you start your story. We know that your opening sentence should grab the reader.

Your closing sentence should determine what the reader takes away from your story or how they feel when they finish your story.

On this worksheet, write down the main point you wrote on worksheet 2.

Use this main point as a guide to writing your closing sentence.

For example, in my story about learning to drive a stick shift, my main point was that I loved my kid brother and liked being a big sister.

So, I might want to end with a line like this: "Looking at him gazing out the open window, the breeze in his hair, I thought he was a cute kid after all."

Read your closing sentence aloud and make a couple of revisions until you get the one you feel is the strongest.

Finally, write that closing sentence in the space at the bottom of the worksheet.
